Graphic designer Emily Hale has designed a wine bottle in tribute to Harvey Milk, the politician who fought for equal rights in San Francisco.

“This deep, rich, Cabernet Sauvignon has a strong backbone of tartness, as strong as the determined Harvey Milk,” Hale says.

London-based architect David Kohn has in collaboration with artist Fiona Banner completed A Room for London, an installation on the roof of the Queen Elizabeth Hall at Southbank Centre, London for the 2012 Olympic year. The Send to Print/Print to Send at The Aram Gallery in London…







The Send to Print/Print to Send at The Aram Gallery in London features a series of objects that are used for 3D printing. The exhibition explores the technology which will change how we produce objects in the future. This includes Belgian design studio Unfold which is showcasing its L’Artisan Electronique device, a virtual potters wheel that can instantly print out generated objects.

German designer Karoline Fesser has designed the Woonling Collection, a furniture concept that explores changing living- and room situations.

“First there is one cushion which can be used as an ottoman. By embedding feet it becomes a taboret. A set of two cushions results in an easy chair. This can be multiplied to a sofa which grows to a longer sofa, for a bigger family,” Fesser says.

Dutch designer Lucas Maasen has opened Lucas Maassen & Sons, a furniture “factory” run primarily by his three young sons who get paid 1 Euro for every piece of furniture they paint.

“Due to Dutch child labour laws it is only possible for Thijme, Julian and Maris to work for 3 hours a week. As a result of this the production speed has became a crucial factor in the process,” the designer explains.

Korean designer Seung Yong Song has created a series of furniture pieces that double up as chairs, ladders, shelves and lamps. Objet O for example consists of a chair tucked into a giant lampshade.

“The unique name of things limit the range of product’s shape and function,” believes Yong Song.
