DesignMarch is on!

DesignMarch is Iceland’s annual design festival. It takes place for the eleventh time on 28–31 March 2019. Over one hundred events transform the most northerly capital in the world into one big venue for design.

Norðri til Suðurs is a series of abstract mirrors created in dichroic glass and coloured mirror that present a playful and whimsical relationship to Iceland’s’ dramatic landscape. Latest design by the collaborative group 1+1+1 which consists of three design studios: Hugdetta from Iceland, Petra Lilja from Sweden and Aalto+Aalto from Finland. Their latest objects are a set of tables that were designed for the Helsinki based gallery Local 2018.

HEMMA Gone Wild – twisted sequel in Milan

Last year, the Swedish initiative HEMMA – Stories from Home received much acclaim at the Milan Furniture Week. The exhibition, which was shown in a space in the Brera design area, brought together some of Sweden’s leading designers and companies in a holistic depiction by design studio Joyn. And here comes the sequel. Under the title HEMMA Gone Wild, around 20 companies are taking part, from large producers like Blå Station, Bolon and EFG, to smaller projects like Lisa Hilland’s new brand Mylhta, Vandra Rugs and students from HDK, Beckmans and from the design award Ung Svensk Form.

Jasper Morrison curates the design section at Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale

Jubileumsparken in Gothenburg won the Siena Prize

Sienapriset delas ut av Sveriges Arkitekter för att främja god utemiljö och tilldelas ett objekt och dess arkitekt. Priset är en hedersutmärkelse i form av diplom samt reliefplakett som sitter på det belönade objektet. Vinnaren blev Jubileumsparken i Göteborg som tog emot priset på årets Arkitekturgala som ägde rum den 19 mars på Konserthuset i Stockholm.
