Best of 2018: Postage stamps by Eva Wilsson

What were the best, loveliest and smartest things that happened in 2018? And what do you hope for next year. We asked 16 Nordic designers and architects – and got as many answers. Graphic designer Eva Wilsson is looking forward to the launch of a new postage stamp on 10 January.

What do you most look forward to personally in 2019?

– 2019 is off to a cracking start with the launch of a new postage stamp on 10 January. I’ve designed the stamp and the theme is ”Slöjdkraft” (craft power). Innovative and contemporary textile crafts by six brilliant designers are featured on the beautiful, fun and colourful stamps. The edition has interesting new fonts from OPS Type, says Eva Wilsson.

Ung Svensk Form 2019

The annual exhibition Ung Svensk Form (Young Swedish Design) is now on view at ArkDes in Stockholm. At Stockholm Design Week’s first day, Ung Svensk Form 2019 opened at ArkDes, where it will be on display until March 31st. The exhibition shows unique works in a variety of disciplines: from product design and craft to fashion and architecture, and this year, there are 25 young designers who have received this award.

New font released today: VOIR

Today the new VOIR font is released. It is a personal and super-thin typeface designed by art director Pompe Hedengren and typeface designer Göran Söderström. They have been working on the font for two years.

New cabin concept by Spinn Architects

Oslo-based architects Spinn has designed a unique cabin concept in the Norwegian town of Hammerfest, inspired by the beautiful nature of the place. The cabin’s shape is based on a 3D laser scans of the surrounding, rocky terrain. The rounded, outer shape remains weatherproof, covered with roofing felt and an outer screen of wood treated with flames.
